Istanbul in the spring

We would like to invite you to the “Weekend in ISTANBUL” PHOTO TOUR, 22-25 March 2018.

Photo tour program

The group departs from Moscow late Thursday evening.

From Friday to Sunday we will be discovering one of the most picturesque cities in the world. Istanbul lies on two continents. It is the place where East meets West and where the oriental and the European cultures come together.

We will see new places in Istanbul in addition to its wonderful old districts.

Eminönü, the Old Town, lies in the European part of Istanbul on the cape between the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara and preserves its medieval look.

Taksim Square is one of the most popular districts in Istanbul, famed for its abundance of hotels, clubs, restaurants, shops, concert halls and tourists. It bustles with life day and night. The famous İstiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue) runs from south to west to connect Taksim Square with Galatasaray and Tünel Squares. In the past it was called Grande Rue de Pera and was occupied entirely by luxury shops. Today it is a pedestrian street - the Arbat of Istanbul if you like. It is home to fashion shops, book stands, cinemas, night clubs, restaurants and cafés.

Beyoğlu is the New Town portion of the city, located on the north shore of the Golden Horn. It is the business and cultural center of Istanbul. In ancient times it was the place of residence for European merchants and diplomats. During the Byzantium epoch it was inhabited by the Genoese colonists and was named Galata (a reminder of that time is the famed Galata Tower).

During our tour you will have the chance to enjoy the splendid scenery of the Bosphorus and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (the Blue Mosque), the largest and one of the most beautiful mosques in Istanbul.

We will take a walk by the Topkapı Palace – the main palace of the Ottoman Empire located on the promontory of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn in the historic center of Istanbul, near the wonderful Hagia Sophia cathedral.

We will take fascinating photos in the Grand Bazaar and drink Turkish coffee in the Pierre Loti café on the shore of the Golden Horn, where we will ascend on a funicular. We will take a ferry boat ride and see the amazing view of the city from the sea.

Early on Sunday morning we will visit the spice market, take a walk along the seashore and observe the morning routine of the locals.

We will return to Moscow on September 16.
